” A Day with Feminism”

I liked the reading about the day with feminism. I felt that everybody will get treated equal and that it doesn’t matter who you are and their is no discrimmination. Some of the things that they talked about in a day with feminism would be very different. For instance the part about having gay marriage in all fifthy states. To me that would take a long time for me to get use to and also it would be a little uncomforable. Also about the teenager mastering manual stimulation for their own sexual pleasure when they learn to drive. I don’t agree with that. I do agree with women having equal pay and choosing to have and abortion if they want to.

” Uequal: A Global Perspective on Women Under the Law”

In this reading it talks about the states and children knowing their parents. I feel that children should know their parents and be with their parents. I agree with the reading that their should be a parent- child relationship. Children would do better in school if they had a relationship with their parents. I feel that the government should help with children knowing who their parents are and were they came from. I think us as people should do whats best for the children.

” Betrayed By An Angel”

This reading was interesting because I did not know that a person could try to be so nice to the point were they think it ok for someone to rape them. I felt that if that teacher had not told her to go back to he seat when she told on that boy then she would think it is ok to tell on people. I also thought that she felt like she cursed by and angel was because she did not know how to be mean or stand up for her self. She also felt that if she gave the rapest complements that he would stop raping her. After the woman got raped she started being really cautious toward people even if they were trying to help her.

“The Path of the Red and Black Ink”

I really did not understand this reading. What I understood what that it was about the Western Cultures and Tribal Art. Many people felt that the Western Cultures borrowed or copied the tribal art and also renamed the arts. The people in the different tribes kept the arts work as honor and the also kept the arts in sacred places.  The people in the tribes attended the arts with scarifices of goats and chickens and also wine. Also some of the colors used in the tribal art had different meanings.

” A Black Woman Took My Job”

I like this reading because it talked about the genders being in the same workplace. I felt that when women started to work and do the same jobs as men they began to feel threaten. The reason men began to feel threaten was because they were use to being the only one bring home money. In my opinion men have always looked at women as being beneath them. That has changed since some women are making the same or even more than men. Also men do not seek health care as often as women, and many people believe that it is another way to show that they are superior to women. I feel that their are still some men that feel  that they should be the breadwinners and women should stay home and do household chores.

Myth of the Perfect Mother

This reading was very intersting it was about the different challenges that mothers face in the Western culture. Most of these women challenges were trying to manage work, children, and a household. These women felt very stressed out because they had to face all of these challenges. Some mothers sometimes have a challenge of trying to put their child in the best school and some of the school are very experisive. Some mother also have a hard time trying to pay for day care.  I understood alot about what the mothers went through because my mother could not afford for me to go to the best schools. She wanted me to go to the best but she could afford schools that were private. Most children have to go to public schools and I’m not saying public schools are bad. I just feel that children in private learn more in private school. I think the government should help more with the cost of children getting a better education.

“Phenomenal Woman” Maya Angelo

“Phenomenal Woman” was a good reading. I liked it because I felt that it encourages women to be their self. The author shows that the person in this poem feels very confident about herself. I think that it is telling people especally women that no matter what anybody else thinks you should be happy with yourself.  It lets women know that you don’t have to be a super model in order to be beautiful. The poem want women to know that they are beautiful the way god made them.

“Gender Role Stressors and Women Health”

The reading was interesting. There was a lot of information that I did not know. I did not realize that women were treated differently than men. I also did not know that the treatment were “based on male model. ” I thought that they had female and male model for treatments. The one thing that I did know is that you have to have good communication with your doctor.

Biphobia

The reading Biphobia was interesting. I am not sure if I liked it are not. In reading this article I did learn something. I learned that gay men and lesbians see bisexuals differently than themselves. I thought that it was the same-thing because they both like the same sex. The only difference between them is that they would be in a relationship with the same sex or the opposite sex.  But now I know that bisexuals have their own category. In the reading it seem like nobody likes bisexuals except the people who are bisexuals. I feel that if you are heterosexual (straight) like me then whether people are gay or  bisexual doesn’ t concern you because you know who you are.  It dose not concern me if people are gay or bisexual because if they are happy with being that way then I feel that they have a right to make that choice.

Bend it Like Beckhem

This time I watched the film ” Bend it Like Beckhem.” I really enjoyed the film. I like the fact that it was about women doing sports. I was glad that they wanted to stand up for women sports and wanted to go pro in soccer. This film also made me realize that not all cultures are the same. Also that it is hard for people to change from something that they are custom to doing, because many people do not like to try new things. There were times in this film that I felt sorry for Jess because she wanted to play soccer and she was good, but her parents did not want her too. I felt that it was hard for her because she did not have any support from her family.  I was glad at the end when her parent decided to let her play soccer and the fact that she stood up to her parents.
